info icon The carat refers to the weight of the cut stone, rather than its size. A diamond’s carat is measured on a point system where 100 points equal one carat. A higher carat weight doesn't always indicate a visually larger diamond. Sometimes, a diamond can appear bigger yet weigh less. When choosing the diamond’s carat weight, it is important to consider the other three C’s, as the diamond’s total value is dependent on all four factors combined.

info icon A diamond’s colour grade is determined by the absence of colour. Naturally, white diamonds can exhibit a pale-yellow or brown hue, with a completely white diamond being classified as colourless. The less colour a white diamond has, the higher the value. The scale used to represent a diamonds colour ranges from D (colourless) to Z (noticeable colour). We recommend purchasing white diamonds within a D-G colour range.

info icon Diamond clarity refers to the degree of naturally occurring internal and external characteristics of a diamond. The characteristics inside the diamond are called ‘inclusions’ and those on the surface are called ‘blemishes’. When cutting diamonds, professionals try to ensure the inclusions are not visible, but rather deep within the diamond so they are harder to see and only visible under a microscope. As most diamonds feature inclusions and/or blemishes, the higher the clarity, the rarer and more valuable the diamond. The scale used to represent a diamonds clarity ranges from Flawless to Included. Flawless (FL), Internally Flawless (IF), Very Very Slightly Included (VVS1 & VVS2), Very Slightly Included (VS1 & VS2), Slightly Included (SI1 & SI2), Included (I1,I2, & I3). We recommend purchasing diamonds within a FL-SI1 clarity range.
